Yoga Ethics & Philosophy
Yoga is a path to liberation and so much more than just physical postures; it's a holistic system that encompasses the body, mind, and soul. By studying yoga ethics, such as the Yamas (ethical principles) and Niyamas (observances), we learn to cultivate virtues like non-violence, truthfulness, contentment, and self-discipline. These principles guide us in building harmonious relationships with ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Furthermore, delving into yoga philosophy, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, helps us understand the nature of our mind and the paths to inner peace and self-realization. It provides insights into managing our thoughts, emotions, and desires, leading us towards a state of balance and tranquility.
Applying these ethical principles and philosophical teachings in our daily lives helps us navigate challenges with grace, make conscious choices, and develop a greater sense of self-awareness. By integrating yoga ethics and philosophy, we embark on a transformative journey that not only enhances our physical well-being but also cultivates mental clarity, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth. So, let's embrace these teachings, both on and off the mat, to lead lives filled with mindfulness, compassion, and purpose - for ourselves and our community.

Yoga & Meditation Classes
Yoga and Meditation classes are curated for all levels, especially beginners! I believe Yoga is truly for everyone, no matter your age, body type, or level of flexibility. I focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all. My classes are all about deep relaxation and restoration. In a world full of chaos, slowing down is medicine and resting is one of the greatest things you can do to reach your goals.
We often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and responsibility - always on the go and working diligently through a to-do list. Cultivating a very mindful and intentional Yoga practice is a powerful tool for self-empowerment that can help promote mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall growth. The flow of my classes is gentle with a little bit of challenge and can be viewed as a moving meditation - taking longer and deeper breaths in each posture. Through this practice an individual can experience improved mindfulness and focus, increased flexibility and mobility, and reduced stress and anxiety. Also, by cultivating a consistent yoga practice, there are many health benefits that may be experienced, for example, lower blood pressure, normalized heart rate, enhanced relaxation, and better sleep quality.
It is my goal to guide my clients to always honor and meet themselves in the present moment. Each session is created to be accessible and soul-soothing! Yoga is a practice and isn't about perfectionism. It allows your body to get into a state of self-healing. It's completely okay if you haven't practiced consistently, in a while, or at all! Yoga is for everyone and welcomes you as you are - no expectations or requirements.

Yoga Asana (Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga)
Ignite Your Flow offers Hatha Yoga based sequences with a mix of the dynamic and flowing style of Vinyasa Yoga creating a slow flow focused on finding stillness within movement through the deep connection between breath and movement. The word "Hatha" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Ha," meaning Sun, and "Tha," meaning Moon. This reflects the concept of balancing opposing forces within the body and mind to further allow us to embrace our inner stability and find equilibrium within.
Through a series of intentional postures and mindful breathing, we will create a nurturing space to release tension, promote relaxation, and find a profound sense of groundedness. Hatha yoga involves holding each posture for a few breaths and emphasizes the importance of breath awareness - syncing each movement with the rhythm of your breath. Vinyasa Yoga allows us to learn to be flexible to move with the ebbs and flows of life with strength and grace.
The mindfulness found by combining these two Yoga styles will help you cultivate a deeper connection to your body while the poses will focus on building strength and stability to support you in feeling deeply rooted and connected.

Yoga Asana (Yin Yoga)
Yin Yoga sessions are a slow-paced, meditative form of yoga that involves holding postures for longer periods of time. Traditionally, an individual may hold a pose up to 5 minutes with the support of yoga props and incorporates 6-8 asanas (poses). However, Yin Yoga is a practice. It is natural for a beginner to feel discomfort in holding postures for longer periods of time and they may want to start with holding a pose for 1 minute or less versus the full 5 minutes. You can also practice and connect with Yin Yoga through poses that do not require prop support.
In all sessions, it is emphasized to all clients to truly listen, honor, and meet their bodies where they are at in the present moment. It is normal and welcomed to move at a pace that feels best to you. It is natural for each pose to look different person to person as we all have unique anatomy structures. Safety and proper alignment always come first!
Practicing Yin Yoga can provide several benefits such as deeper stretches that allow your muscles to relax and release tension, increased flexibility and range of motion in the joints and muscles, and improved circulation allowing blood and oxygen to flow more freely throughout the body.
The slow and meditative nature of Yin Yoga can also help reduce stress and anxiety and promote better sleep by promoting release, relaxation, and mindfulness. Yin Yoga is a beautiful tool for deep relaxation and restoration.

Enhanced Self-Acceptance Mirror Work, Shadow Work)
Two powerful tools I love to incorporate in my sessions to overcome negative self-talk and self-doubt are mirror work and shadow work.
Mirror work is a therapeutic technique that involves looking at oneself in a mirror and engaging in introspection and self-affirmation. By focusing on one's reflection, individuals can confront and address negative self-perceptions, enhance self-acceptance, and cultivate a positive self-image. This practice encourages self-compassion and self-awareness, leading to improved self-esteem and reduced self-criticism. Mirror work can also aid in identifying and transforming deeply ingrained beliefs that might be holding individuals back, ultimately promoting personal growth and emotional healing. Regular engagement in mirror work has the potential to foster greater self-confidence and a more profound connection with oneself.
Shadow work is the process of exploring and working with the hidden and unconscious aspects of ourselves. These aspects are often referred to as the "shadow", and may include repressed feelings, desires, fears, and beliefs. Shadow work can help you to better understand and integrate with these hidden aspects of yourself, leading to greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal transformation. The process of shadow work involves identifying and acknowledging the aspects of ourselves that we may have been avoiding or denying, and bringing them into conscious awareness. Once these aspects are brought to light, we can begin to work with them in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, allowing us to heal and grow from the experiences that have shaped us. While shadow work can be a challenging and sometimes uncomfortable process, it can also be incredibly rewarding and transformative. By embracing and integrating the hidden aspects of ourselves, we can become more whole and authentic individuals, living more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
